Anyway, we were very happy with the taste - especially considering the cost. Once we got the settings right on the Gaggia, every espresso and latte has been great. Blows Starbucks away.

I love this coffee. It makes GREAT espresso drinks, though I prefer lattes and capuccinos. Lavazza is one of the top brands in Italy (and elsewhere in Europe, having scene their product in other countries). I have also enjoyed Rosa and the pre-ground in the black can (for stovetop espresso percolators).



Some people reviewing this product appear to be uneducated about coffee, claiming this is NOT espresso, either because it doesn't say "espresso" on the bag or because it's not a dark roast. The truth is "espresso" refers to a process of making a coffee beverage, not the roast or the bean itself. A coffee bean is a coffee bean is a coffee bean. How you roast it, grind it, send water through it, serve it or drink it is up to you. Lavazza probably didn't put the word "espresso" on it for one of two reasons: 1) In Italy it's just assumed that if you're normal you're having espresso (probably straight); or 2) Lavazza knows that you may do whatever the heck you want with their beans as long as you keep buying them.



Lavazza Oro is a great coffee. I love the caramel aroma when I first open the bag of beans. I don't usually drink straight espresso, so I can't comment on how Oro fares as a straight shot. It seems to make a really nice crema, though that is somewhat controlled by the grind and the machine. I have a super-automatic espresso machine, and its manufacturer actually recommends NOT using darker, oilier roasts because they may gum up the grinder or brewing apparatus. I've been drinking mainly plain lattes with this coffee, and I think they're phenomenal. I really miss it if I'm away from home and have to settle for an overpriced, burnt alternative from a mermaid of Seattle.



I love that Amazon will ship me four bags of Lavazza Oro every month on subscribe and save, although I've noticed the price jumping up in the past few months. I hope the price stabilizes or drops back down. It's currently a real value compared to another Italian espresso giant that comes in silver cans. Those other guys make delicious coffee, but they're a little too pricey for me to justify buying regularly.

This is really good stuff. This coffee has a creamy chocolatiness about it that always makes me want some when I wake up in the morning. I make mine in a 8 cup French press. 5 heaping scoops with a couple of spins in a $10 krups ginder and 3 minutes in filtered freshly boiled water and I am in Heaven. My mother tells me that this is even good without milk or sugar, which should say something.



I should note that some people give this coffee bad reviews because they believe it is espresso. It is not. Repeat: THIS IS NOT ESPRESSO. Look at the picture or read the packaging if you find it in a store. It is not espresso. Amazon listed it incorectly. Don't give this coffee bad reviews because of someone at Amazon who made a mistake.



I should also note that if you want any coffee to retain it's flavor you should not leave the coffee in the bag. You can always smell the coffee through the bag which means that the bag is not air tight and the flavor of the coffee is dissipating into the air. As soon as you get any coffee you should always put it in a plastic container that is air tight and stored out of direct sunlight. Do not store coffee in the freezer because the air cycling will also suck the flavors away.

I lived in Italy for several years, and Lavazza was my coffee of choice, This isn't the same by a long shot -- the roast is anemic, and the resulting espresso is thin and tasteless. The underlying flavor is has some of the distinctive notes from 'real' lavazza, but that really doesn't compensate for the under-roasting.

This coffee tastes weak and old. Cream is very thin. I don't know the roast date, but it still had about year and half to expiration date. This is strange by itself- top quality coffee is good for about 1 month after the roast. It can survive longer, when beans are packed in a nitrogen filled sealed container, but this coffee came in a regular valved bag. The beans are well roasted, not burned, maybe they'd tasted better when fresh.

Gave it 2 stars because it is still better than a cheap coffee from a supermarket, which I consider 1 star benchmark.

First time experience with Lavazza Tierra! I have been getting the espresso bean from a local roasting company. I don't have any problem, but my wife wants more aroma from my espresso shot. The reason I got the Lavazza Tierra!

But, no success so far. I have the Bezzera bz07 machine with a Rockey grinder. I only got very light crema from Lavazza Tierra! also I don't smell any aroma. I tried pulling a shot with a bottomless portafilter, it looks very awful. I think the bean is old.

I had been purchasing the cafe espresso by lavazza in the black cans but decided to try this stuff and liked it even more. I had brought back a bag of the black stuff from Europe and liked it alot. This stuff is even better though. I have an espresso machine and this tastes the most like espresso you would get at a cafe in Europe. They sell it ay my local grocery store for $10 a can but this is a much better deal. It is on sale often as well through amazon.

My Italian cousin-in-law recently taught me how to make real authentic Italian espresso and cappuccino and Lavazza is her first choice over all other brands. It is so rich and smooth and I have to agree after we ran out of Lavazza and went hunting unsuccessfully for more and ended up buying two other brands. No comparison as there was such a difference in taste. I threw out the other two cans and went hunting on the internet that night and found it the cheapest on Amazon (my favorite place to shop on the Internet). Anyway, signed up for the subscription service and LOVE it. Just about when I was on my last can of Lavazza, here comes an e-mail notifying me that Amazon was about to make another shipment. Perfect timing. Love, love, love this service. By the way, my husband is a die-hard Starbucks fan (very strong coffee) and likes his best as a blend of Lavazza and Starbucks.

Moved from Italy to US for some time, I couldn't stay away from Italian coffee during those months, so I ordered one of the most appreciated brands in Italy -if you want the very best try Illy-. Very good coffee, enjoyed at best with an espresso machine and moka -I don't recommend the dripping machine for this Lavazza!!-

I moved back to Austin, Texas from London about 8 months ago with my northern Italian husband. Since we got here we have been drinking nescafe and different espresso brands. We found a halfway decent can of Lavazza from wholefoods but the starbucks espresso is GROSS! It tastes burnt. I discovered the Lavazza Rossa on Amazon, which is my husband's favorite from Italy. We went through the 4 brick pack in a month!! Now he refuses to drink any coffee until I get more of this and Amazon seems to be out of stock until the end of the month when our next shipment is due!! I had to up the shipment to 8 bricks, especially as my Italian mother in law is due to visit for a month. We make it in the Italian espresso maker on the stove and it tastes WONDERFUL!!

For those of you with a cafe mocca this is probably the best coffee to buy. It has a great taste, the price is good I will not change for anything else in this price range.

Tip tip for the newly accuainted. Find yourself a good container and once you open the coffee, keep it in your container and keep it in the fridge. A cool stable temperature environment keeps your coffee in perfect condition.

My wife and I have been drinking this coffee for many years, but had difficulty finding it in San Antonio. Since we are transplanted Canadians (legally), we were importing this coffee from Canada where it is readily available in Super Markets. Now that we have found it at Amazon.com at a reasonable price, we are buying it there and saving all the hassle of importing. And with free regular delivery at our preferred intervals, it couldn't get any better. Thank you.

I get Lavassa Rossa in volume because we drink a lot of coffee

and it's not available everywhere. We mix it (2 parts Lavazza and

3 parts Bustelo) with Bustelo for a strong, smooth cup of coffee.

Amazing.

For the longest time I've been looking for something that compares to Illy espresso (medium roast) at a lower price. Thought this was a deal as I've been paying $14+ per can of Illy. I read all the hype & tried to order via Amazon only to be told they will NOT ship this product to Hawaii.I found the Crema e Gusto somewhere else for less than $9/pack; sadly, I was disappointed with the slightly bitter undertone and will most likely go back to Illy. Any Illy addicts out there who found something as good at a lower price?

Yes i did say drip. I have now tried 2 different lavazza brands. This is the better of the two but do not discount the other as i love it equally. I will continue to buy both as i love the occasional change up. If you use this in a drip coffee pot i would suggest staring out with using just over half of the normal amount you usually use then move on from there. With other brands including starbucks i would use 1 - 1.5 scoops per cup. So in my 5 cup maker depending on what taste i was going after i would use up to 8 scoops. With both lavazza coffees i have found 3-3.5 scoops is ideal in my 5 cup maker. It takes a few times to get it in your head that so much less coffee works but it does.
